Ipswich-based Tennial Personnel mark four years of trading with commercial sector expansion

Tennial Personnel is celebrating its fourth anniversary by looking to the future as it prepares to add commercial recruitment to its offering and expand its Ipswich-based team.

Dennis Tennial founded the recruitment company in January 2015, collaborating with The Recruit Venture Group to fulfil his desire to build a recruitment business that embraced his own recruitment philosophy of going above and beyond for both candidates and clients.
Tennial Personnel’s Managing director has worked in recruitment since 1993 and has grafted to build a successful business that currently operates in the engineering, hospitality and industrial sectors.

The recruitment company have appointed Georgia Potts to launch their new commercial division, which Tennial believes will be a vital expansion for his business.
“We have gone from strength to strength over the past four years and it feels like the right time to be branching out and launching our commercial division,” he said.
“I have been thinking about setting up a commercial desk for a while now and it makes sense to be celebrating our four year trading anniversary with an important expansion.
“I think there is a real opportunity for us to build a successful commercial desk because we make sure that we take the time to treat our candidates and clients properly.
“I think it’s vital that Tennial Personnel continues to grow, I don’t want the business to stand still I want to keep growing and keep adding to the local economy, employing local people and finding jobs for local people.”

Despite Britain’s upcoming departure from the European Union, Tennial is predicting a strong 2019 for his business.
“Everyone is talking about Brexit and I think the trick is to focus on what you are good at and not get bogged down in all the Brexit uncertainty and negativity,” he said.
“Brexit presents us with new challenges, different challenges, but they are challenges we are able to overcome if we show the right spirit.
“We have adapted and evolved over the past four years, that is why we have grown to where we are today and it is what we will continue to do as Britain leaves the EU.
“I am not going to let Brexit put me off launching our new commercial desk, it should not and will not hold us back.
“I want to make 2019 – our fifth year of trading – our best yet.”

Tennial’s Managing Director is also committed to serving the community in which his business operates; Tennial Personnel proudly support the St Elizabeth Hospice plus all four Coplestonians Football Club under 10 teams and Trimley Red Devils Under 11s side.
The business also supports Futurestars UK, an international sports and education programme in the Town which involves professional footballers coaching up-and-coming players in Ghana and Togo.
“I believe it is good to give something back to the local community,” said Dennis.
“We are proud to support a number of local youth football teams, plus the Futurestars programme and remain committed to supporting the St Elizabeth Hospice.
“We will remain at the heart of the community we serve throughout 2019.”

The stellar rise of Dennis Tennial and the inspiring story behind Tennial Personnel

Dennis Tennial
The life story of Tennial Personnel’s award winning Managing Director confounds expectations and should give us all something to smile about.

Ipswich-born Dennis Tennial started at the bottom of the recruitment ladder and now has his name above the door of his own thriving business.

Dennis’ story began with no more than an ambition and drive to be the best recruiter he could be and he is now the boss of the company that bears his name, Tennial Personnel. His personal story is a textbook example of how making the jump from successful employee to successful businessman can be the best decision anyone can make.

Dennis started his Ipswich-based business in 2015 with support from The Recruit Venture Group, which partners with talented recruiters, just like Dennis, to help them get their business off the ground. The busy Tennial Personnel team – made up of Dennis, Leanne McKinney, Lavinia Hau and Katarzyna Salek – are celebrating a 32% increase in revenue for the first two months of the financial year, compared to the same period last year, as Tennial Personnel continues to grow.

Financial Risks – Forget Them!

The biggest hurdle, Dennis admits, is getting over the thoughts of financial worry. Not wanting to put his lifelong hard work in the hands of a bank who could repossess everything if cash-flow got tight; Dennis sought another way. Instead of risking everything, he found an investment partner in The Recruit Venture Group. Partnering with the team behind 43 successful businesses, gave him more than just finances it provided everything from IT to Payroll and a complete robust credit line at no risk or outlay to him personally. Dennis, an experienced and ambitious recruiter, could now make the leap he dreamed of for years and begin his own business without the fear of failure and losing everything. Tennial Personnel – who are based on Northgate Street in Ipswich, and operate across the whole of East Anglia, covering the industrial, engineering, commercial and hospitality sectors – grew year on year, without any restrictions on cash-flow which often hinder new start-ups.

The Upward Movement / Building the Dream

Dennis led his team to a record breaking 2017/18, enjoying a 32% year on year rise in turnover. Reflecting on his success, Dennis said: “I knew I could do a better job than some of the businesses I’d worked for. I’d put in twenty years or more in recruitment and I had my own ideas. And, to be frank, I wanted to see the rewards of my efforts. To be in control and give back to my community and others. I launched Tennial Personnel with the backing of The Recruit Venture Group. I’d thought about it before. Hesitated some. Made mistakes. This was different. I got not only the financial backing to launch but also the support for all of those back office functions that would otherwise have taken up so much time and money. From day one my team and I were able to focus on the thing that was actually going to generate revenue, recruitment. That really helped our business through those early days, allowing us to grow rapidly and establish a business that could give back.” Previously convinced he could run a recruitment business better than his former bosses could, he has been able to put that theory into action.

Local Owner, Local Knowledge, Local Success

Dennis now runs a business centred on his own culture and values – and it is absolutely paying off! “Clients come to us because they know me, and they know the business. They know they will get a committed service. And that ethos runs right through the team. We respect each other, and we respect the clients and the candidates. It’s what makes it work,” he said.

Giving Back – The Real Rewards

Dennis has also extended the culture and values of the business to include the support of local charities and community causes – a hugely important personal step for the entrepreneur. He has sponsored two local children’s football teams, Trimley Red Devils and Coplestonians, supported the St Elizabeth’s Hospice Midnight Walk and supplied underprivileged children in Ghana with football kit as part of the FUTURESTARS programme. He said: “They are highlights; because it is about doing something worthwhile and giving something back to the local community. Ask me about specific business highlights and I’d have to say starting the business, obviously. But, winning the Recruitment Agency of the Year Award at the Recruit Venture Group Awards was massive. It was a real validation of what we’ve done here.”

Opportunity Knocks

The ascent of Dennis Tennial is an excellent reminder of the power of ambition and determination as Paul Mizen, the Managing Director of The Recruit Venture Group explains. “There must be lots of employees who, like Dennis, have years of experience, and are restless at the thought that they could be running their own operation much better than their current employers,” he said. “We have helped well over 50 individuals do just that and the number is growing every year. By putting up all the necessary finance, project managing the launch of the business and taking care of those expensive and time-draining back office functions, we give people the belief that starting their own business could be a reality. We allow people like Dennis to get on with the job of recruitment and not get bogged down with the other ‘stuff’ of business. We’re all really proud of what the Tennial team has achieved over these past three years. Nothing unlocks potential more than starting your own business. It is the pinnacle of people’s careers and we can’t wait to help more talented recruiters do the same.”

Unlocking Potential

Tennial Personnel is just one of over 43 such businesses that the Recruit Venture Group has launched and supports. They put up 100% of the finance, so there is no need to take out loans on unfavourable terms, re-mortgage the house or live month-to-month on credit cards. The other great enabling factor is how The Recruit Venture Group takes care of all of the back office functions of the new start-up, from accounts, to payroll, to HR, marketing, legal, IT and much more. That leaves experienced recruiters like Dennis to get on with the job they do best, helping clients to fill vacancies with quality candidates; something which Dennis and his team at Tennial thrive on. Tennial Personnel step up as sponsors for Midnight Walk

Ipswich based recruitment agency Tennial Personnel Ltd have sponsored this year’s Midnight Walk for St Elizabeth Hospice.

Midnight Walk 2018 will see St Elizabeth Hospice’s flagship event return for its twelfth year. With a track record of raising around £200,000 each time, and famous for seeing thousands of people turn up, the Walk has become a firmly established annual event.

But, help from volunteers is always necessary, and sponsorship is always vital.

Into the frame for 2018 stepped Tennial Personnel Ltd. Established three years ago the Northgate Street recruitment agency has had a meteoric rise and now says Managing Director Dennis Tennial ‘we thought it was time to give something back’.

Mr Tennial, who launched the business, and is well known in the area, says that they always try to help where they can. Tennial Personnel Ltd sponsors local soccer club Trimley Red Devils for instance.

‘When St Elizabeth Hospice contacted us I was convinced that this was something we could and should help with’, he says. ‘The issues that the Hospice deal with affect us all, directly or indirectly, and it’s vital that they have the support they need’.

Tennial Personnel Ltd, which Dennis created with backing from The Recruit Venture Group, has rapidly established itself on the region’s recruitment map. The award-winning company looks after the employment needs of hundreds of businesses and individuals, always with its legendary level of service.

‘We pride ourselves on our service because we always go the extra mile’, said Dennis Tennial. ‘Now it’s great to be able to step up and help St Elizabeth Hospice to get people walking six or ten miles for a good cause. And in neon!’

The message to walkers this year is to dress up and sparkle in neon. Legwarmers and tiaras are definitely the order of the day.

‘Our philosophy is all about ‘getting the job done’ says Mr Tennial. St Elizabeth Hospice do a great job, and if we can help with that – it’s a job well done!’

St Elizabeth Hospice Midnight Walk 2018 is on May 12 – 13 and full details are available online at www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk
